I have been taking Pilates since just after opening and have gained strength and mobility. Before the Pilates I was falling and unsteady on my feet and that is not a problem anymore. If I feel stiff and sore during the day I just do my Pilates and it helps me to feel much better and gets me through the day. I would highly recommend Pilates and would be happy to talk to anyone that is interested in learning about how it can help them.

As an active "over sixty year old" woman, I wanted a program that (a) I would stick with, (b) actually improve my physical condition and (c) look forward to going to each week. I found that program at The Pilates Body. I play competitive tennis and ride horses so I needed to try to maintain body flexibility to avoid the common injuries associated with these sports. My flexibility and core strength have improved dramatically since joining Lianne's program.
Pilates are exercises that actually make sense, and work for men and women of all ages and body types.
Lianne and The Pilates Body Studio offer the best of the best.

My back problems began while I was earning my Masters Degree in Public Health at Yale University, in 1982. After decades of debilitating episodes of back pain and discomfort, Pilates has proven to be the only effective treatment for me. I tried physical therapy, drug treatment, and practiced yoga twice daily for fifteen years.
Eight years ago, I visited a highly recommended chiropractor who prescribed Pilates for me. He described it as a combination of yoga, dance, and weight training, designed for bed-ridden patients. I felt fragile and weak and too uncoordinated to learn dance movement, but I was familiar with yoga, and desperate.
From my first session at The Pilates Body, I felt my back problems were understood and resolvable. Lianne is professional and warm, combining scientific precision with incisive intuition, essential to truly gifted health professionals. She immediately began teaching me how to correct harmful movement habits, some very subtle, contributing to my back problems. The relief was immediate and lasting.
Now in my 50's, I've never felt stronger or more physically capable. My body awareness and coordination continue developing. I prevent back problems with proper movement and posture. I engage in activities previously difficult (housework) or impossible (dancing).
My fellow students are varied, a wide range of ages, sizes, and physical conditioning. The instructors are impressive in their ability to address a spectrum of needs and goals. I continue to learn and improve the quality of my life. My episodes of back problems are rare, far less severe, and much briefer. The physical strength and body awareness I've learned help me avoid injuries, but when I slip, the team at The Pilates Body gets me back on track.
